How are you guys? Don't be bored to read my blog😊 Ok, now we will discuss about typical food on Islamic New Years in Turkey. What is it? Turkish people's habits are together with family and closest people. And they prepare food to eat together. Porridge, is a typical food made at the time Islamic New Years. 
Aşure Porridge

When celebrating the new year of Islam, there are typical foods cooked by Turkish people, namely Aşure Porridge. As a country that was once occupied by Khalifah Utsmani has a unique tradition, when welcoming the new year's hijri. The Turkish community is also not free from the tradition of celebrating Ashura, they used to make Asura porridge and share it with everyone. The same is true for Indonesian Muslims who celebrate the New Year's Hijrah (1 muharam) and commemorate 10 Muharam (Ashura). 
       Every muharam month, the Turkish mother will do activities to make porridge at home, buy various ingredients to make porridge asure in traditional markets and supermarkets which usually sell various ingredients for making asure only when this muharam month. The ingredients for making Aşure Porridge in Turkey are slightly different from Aşure Porridge in Indonesia. Aşure Porridge version of Turkish society is very diverse and is dominated by beans. Making Aşure Porridge preserved by the Turkish Muslim community to date, they believe by making Aşure Porridge, giving alms asure bring blessings in life, share goodness, the blessings of prayers, lengthen the relationship with relatives and neighbors, until no wonder seeing the sights every month muharam, many Turkish people share porridge, both among neighbors, and share with the wider community, various institutions, even political parties also use the momentum of the Muslim month, to share Aşure Porridge with the community.

This aşure food is a kind of sweet porridge made from a mixture of various kinds of food ingredients. Among them food contains carbohydrates, vegetable protein, fruits, water, and sugar. Carbohydrate ingredients are usually used buğday (wheat), but can be replaced with rice. Vegetable protein obtained from peanuts (such as peanuts, almonds, etc.) that have been fried without oil. Fruits used can be fresh fruit such as fresh grapes, apricots, prunes, apples, or dried fruits such as raisins (dried grapes). You can also add pomegranate (which is usually sprinkled after cooking). These ingredients are mixed with water and sugar (or milk can also be added).
     Aşure is cooked in large quantities because it is not only consumed by the home, but also distributed to neighbors around the house. Every house is almost certain to have aşure. It could be because the owner of the house cooks this menu himself, but it can also be due to getting shipments from surrounding neighbors.
